fit-elise:

So, I’ve gotten a good amount of questions about this now, so I thought I’d write a post about this.
I started doing yoga about 8 months ago, and I have only taken 1 yoga class, because I classes aren’t for me.
As I’ve said this, taking classes is the best thing to do, especially when you’re starting out. A yoga teacher can then show you proper form and how not to get hurt. Because when you don’t know what you are doing, yoga can be dangerous.
Do I have to be flexible for yoga?
- One of the most asked questions I get is “How can I become flexible before starting yoga?” “I am too inflexible for yoga, how do I change that?” - You don’t wait until you know how to swim before you go into the water, do you? No, you practice. Many people think yoga is only for the flexible, when in fact yoga is the thing that makes you flexible.
How to do those advanced moves?
- You might think that doing the headstand, handstand, crow or wheel is easy, ‘cause it looks easy on pictures, but it’s hard. That’s why it’s advanced. If you’re just starting out don’t go for advanced poses. Sure, you can have it as goals, but don’t try throwing yourself into a forearm-stand at your first yoga session(done that mistake myself, didn’t end well).
Where can I find good yoga websites/videos?
- Now, I’m not all over the internet, so if you’ve got someone, please add them, but here are some of my favorites:
Tara Stiles,
The yoga tag in fitsugar
MindBodyGreen
Yogajournal
Yogameditationhome
Yogatoday
Ekhart Yoga
Well, that’s what I had on my heart, hope you can get something out of it! :)

I needed to see this today. Its so important.

The key word here is HONEST. It’s not saying to deprive yourself, it’s not saying you can’t eat anything bad, ever. It’s saying don’t lie to yourself and say “But I’ve been eating healthy, why am I still overweight?” when, in reality, you’ve been eating terribly. And this goes for all fitness goals, not just weight loss. Will I ever run a sub-2 hr half marathon fueled by cupcakes? Probably not. Food is fuel, and honesty is so important in your relationship with food.
